Disable the Windows Update Validation Tool

If you download Windows Updates regularly you have probably noticed that Micro$oft have released a new product key validation tool. Personally I find this annoying and mainly as a security risk. Virus writers can now get people to think they are running an illegal copy of Winodws. How does this help Micro$oft?

Somewhere on the NET one user reported that he deleted one DLL file from the Windows directory thus allowing him to bypass the validation tool check.
He wrote: Well I was playing around with WGA and I found a simple way to disable it (without an annoying prompt telling you to enable the plugin in IE or using the javascript everytime).

Simply delete "GWFSPidGen.dll"

Found under

%Systemroot%system32

1. So to remove this file simply type in RUN: cmd
2. In the command prompt type: del %Systemroot%system32GWFSPidGen.dll

This trick DID NOT work for me, so I researched on and found a practical way that actually worked for me.

The procedure:

In IE go to Windows Update homepage, there after the page was loaded type in the address bar the following:

javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

Then just go ahead and click on "Custom"

Walla!

Just remember that you'll have to type the command in the address bar every time you go on Windows update, so to simplify that just create a favorite with the command.

***UPDATE:
Apparently you can also do it by going to: Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-Ons > Disable Windows Genuine Advantge

Enjoy
